The League of Legends World Championship is coming soon, and teams competing are still being decided on. One champion that won't be present though, is the new Udyr.
Previously, we knew that Udyr will become the embodiment of the League of Legends Freljord demigods, or at least will draw his abilities from them. The latest gameplay video released by Riot confirmed that fact, and the fact that the rework is amazing.
Some adjustments had to be made though, regarding the in-game balance, but overall the rework was a resounding success. Except for one thing, that is.
It was confirmed on August 25 by Riot Gurg7 that Udyr's new rework will not be a part of Worlds 2022. Riot have not given an explanation regarding this decision, though we can speculate.
This is not the first time a champion rework has been released just before the World Championship started. We can all remember Kayle, and her own rework, which made her either a pick or ban every game.
Perhaps, Riot are afraid that this year it would be the same. After all, pros did not have enough time to acquaint themselves with the champion, while some may have an OP tactic as the ace up their sleeve.
So, to avoid any problems before they even exist, Riot are disabling the reworked Udyr for the duration of the League of Legends World Championship 2022.
