Riot Games have announced that they are doing some Summer cleaning, and are deleting very inactive League of Legends accounts.
Riot say that they use player data to improve the gaming experience, and if you don’t need it, they don’t either. Thus, they are committed to only keeping data around for as long as necessary, and this means removing accounts that both haven’t been active in a while and never did much, to begin with.
If you're scared that your account may get deleted, because you haven't played in a while, don't be. A Riot Games account is considered inactive when there has not been any login activity across any of Riot games, applications, or web properties for over three years.
Accounts destined for termination must meet all of the following criteria in order to be considered eligible for deletion as a result of inactivity:
- Account is inactive
- Account did not purchase any game currency in its lifetime
- Account did not receive any game currency in its lifetime
- Account has played fewer than 20 hours
- Account does not own any rare limited edition game entitlements
If your account has been marked for deletion due to inactivity, you will receive an email at the email address that is on file for your account. You will not be able to log into any of Riot's games, applications, or web properties with the exception of the player support page, to notify Riot that your account is not inactive.
