The pressure that impacts mental health is everpresent in professional competition. The same goes for esports, and now Evil Geniuses lose their ADC on the eve of a grand battle.

Kyle "Danny" Sakamaki is a League of Legends esports player, currently the bot laner for Evil Geniuses. He was previously known as Shiro and Dan and has been competing professionally for a few years now in tournaments organized by Riot .

Danny has been a key player in the team's success with his clutch late-game carrying which earned them their spot at the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational.

In a statement from the Evil Geniuses CEO, it was announced that he will be taking a break to focus on his mental health:

"It takes a great deal of courage and self-awareness to recognize when the right time is to step away from something you've worked so hard at achieving, especially when you care so deeply for this organization and your teammates, in order to focus on mental health."

It remains unknown whether Evil Geniuses will appear during Worlds without their star ADC, if the takes longer than expected to recover. Currently, they are looking into a replacement ADC in the form of Muhammed Hasan "Kaori" Şentürk, from their Academy, for the finals weekend.

It wouldn't be the first time a starting ADC would not appear at the World Championship, though the results have rarely ever been good.
