One of the three new coaches for T1, and the interim Head coach, is now Bengi, a famous name in both T1 and in the world of League of Legends esports.
T1 is a Korean esports team operated by T1 Entertainment & Sports, a joint venture between SK Telecom and Comcast Spectacor, and are perhaps most famous for their success in League of Legends tournaments run by Riot Game s.
Their success has not continued on to today, and due to fan outrage, T1 leadership removed the previous Head Coac h, Polt, just before the World Championship.
"As of today, Bengi, the three-time Worlds champion and long-time member of the T1 family, will be elevated to interim Head Coach", said T1 CEO Joe Marsh in a statement regarding the change of staff.
Bengi is one of the only two players to have won three League of Legends World Championships, having done so in 2013, 2015, and 2016. His professional career consists of a total number of 319 matches, with 231 wins and 88 losses, and a win rate of 72.4%.
When fans sent a list of demands to the T1 headquarters, one of the demands was for a new Head coach, who had more experience. Well, if it's winning the World Championship they are after, then there are scant few that can compare to Bengi.
Will it prove to be enough, though, as the World is just around the corner, and a new dynamic between the team and staff may ake some time to be established?
