These days, everyone is talking about the tragic disappearance of the submarine that was carrying five people on an expedition to visit the wrecks of the Titanic.
OK, now you're probably wondering what this has to do with gaming. To be honest, this submarine and this unfortunate tragedy have nothing in common; however, another submarine actually has, and this submarine is the one from Iron Lung, an indie horror game that will let us explore the horrific depths of some unknown planet.
What's strange about this game is that it was released last year and was rather popular on Steam at the time. However, due to its short duration, the number of active players dropped swiftly, but today, a year after its release, the number of active players has risen considerably, and the reason for this is none other than the tragic events surrounding the lost submarine.
The game's developer, David Szymanski, stated on his Twitter profile that this incident and Iron Lung's unexpected rise in popularity are simply not right. He produced a graph showing the spike in sales and said, simply, "This feels wrong!"
In the multitude of comments that can be seen below this tweet, people mostly write positively; however, there are some inappropriate comments. To all of these and other comments, Szymanski simply replied:
"I definitely see the dark humour in this whole submarine situation. It's just… I created the Iron Lung as the scariest thing I could think of, and knowing that real people are in that situation is pretty scary, even if it's a consequence of their bad decisions. All the jokes I've seen are hilarious, but I also don't think anyone should die that way."
