Halo: Master Chief Collection's next game to come out will be Combat Evolved and it is already aiming for tests with people outside 343 Industries are getting their hands on it. By the end of January 2020, even more testers should get it.
According to a forum post by 343 Industries, Halo: Combat Evolved test flight is set to reach Rings 1 and 2 by the end of January 2020. Ring 3 will get to test the game in February 2020.
For those unfamiliar with the workings of the Rings, they are basically the various groups of testers 343 Industries are relying on to provide a performance analysis of the upcoming Halo: MCC games. Ring 0 consists of 343 folks themselves, Ring 1 is made up of external partners that have a history of working with the studio, Ring 2 is a wider range of partners while Ring 3 is made of insiders who satisfy key performance indicators. All of these groups are insiders one way or another, according to the post detailing the rings .
One important takeaway from that post is that when a problem occurs, access to a game can be reverted to a previous Ring tier, all the way back to Ring 0, provided an issue is severe enough.
Back to the planned tests , both Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo: Reach for PC are headed for the tests at the same time. Those with Halo Insider access should keep their eyes peeled on the upcoming news in order to see when they might gain access and kick off the old but new Halo chapters.
There are still some crash-related issues that 343 Industries are working on but fixing these should mean that Rings 1 and 2 can commence testing. The current plan is for this to happen by the end of January 2020 which means it should happen in less than two weeks from the time of writing.
