ArenaNet announced that Guild Wars 2 WvW beta ran into some problems and needed to cease prematurely but there will be more in the future.
World Restructuring is highly anticipated in Guild Wars 2 and while it's not at our doorstep just yet, the beta testing is. However, things didn't go as planned it seems as ArenaNet had to pull the plug and revert the World Linking system while they fix the issues that were plaguing the trial.
Players were sent to their original worlds as the devs cycled the WvW maps. The "cycling" refers to booting players so that WvW can restart fresh. In other words, it's almost a blank slate. Score and objective ownership on the map will remain the same so it's not a full reset of everything.
ArenaNet note that despite the problem that required them to cut the testing short, they still managed to collect a lot of useful feedback. Those who were disappointed because they couldn't go further with restructuring may get another shot soon as the official announcement noted there will be "another attempt in a few weeks".
Overall, it's not a complete loss and WvW enthusiasts still have a lot to look forward to.
