ArenaNet announced they are about to do some funky things with more challenging content in Guild Wars 2, with the changes being likely to meet good reception.
Guild Wars 2 often gets flak for feeling unrewarding as more challenging activities will not necessarily make you progress quicker, further or in the desired direction.
Additionally, raids are left untouched by a large chunk of the community due to the perceived difficulty as well as the time consumption. With the updates in the near future, ANet will attempt to tackle each of these problems to a degree.
First, the Strike Missions in End of Dragons will have twice the gold cap people can earn from them during a week. The new weekly reward caps will be as follows:
- Aetherblade Hideout - two gold
- Xunlai Jade Junkyard - two gold
- Kaineng Overlook - four gold
- Harvest Temple - four gold
Completing them in Challenge Mode will yield additional gold and the gold cap will be increased by the same amount the mission offers regularly. On top of that, completing CMs will give you a chance to loot the Imperial Everbloom Infusion that can be traded. An account-bound version can be purchased from the vendor in Arborstone.
In the case of raids, they are getting an easy mode that is supposed to be a stepping stone in training newcomers.

One raid wing will be featured each week and it will have the Emboldened mode. When it's active, the players will get a buff stack that will increase their HP, damage and healing. Whenever the group fails an encounter, they gain another stack, all the way until they get 100 per cent more HP as well as 50 per cent more damage and healing.
A few achievements will be disabled with this mode but it's perfect for learning raids and will likely bring more attention to them.
