ArenaNet revealed the start date of the next chapter in Guild Wars 2 Icebrood Saga, dubbed Power, and offered a preview of things to come.
Chapter 2: Power will become available in Guild Wars 2 Icebrood Saga on January 19, 2021.
Primordus has already invaded Tyria and Dragon Response Missions have become widely available in the previous chapter of the Icebrood Saga finale. Power will build on that and four new DRMs will be available across Thunderhead Peaks, Fields of Ruin, Lake Doric and Snowden Drifts.
Each of these will have challenge modifiers that will apparently ramp up the difficulty, which should be a welcome addition since the players weren't exactly thrilled with the lack of challenge in the missions from Truce. On top of offering a better challenge, playing the missions in this mode will offer the players better loot.
Additional factions will become available for recruitment, with two new groups rolling in. One of them will become available at release while the other one will arrive slightly later. Considering that we're getting both the dwarves and an infusion that turns us to stone, it's possible that we will see more of Ogden's kind first.
This chapter will also apparently test the alliance of the Commander and Jormag, which is not exactly unexpected. While Jormag certainly has a stake in fighting against Primordus, its manipulative nature is sure to bring us into conflict down the road. It remains to be seen how much of that will unfold in Power.
Besides the infusion, the devs announced a faction-specific longbow reward so keep an eye on that as well.
