Grand Theft Auto 6 has officially been confirmed to be a PS5 Pro Enhanced game as pre-orders launch around the globe. Customers in countries like New Zealand were among the first to notice the game’s PlayStation Store page updated with the PS5 Pro Enhanced tag.
Specs on what that entails have yet to be confirmed by Rockstar, but it does inch Sony even closer to being the console of choice at launch. Sony has gone all-in on marketing GTA 6 as a “Best on PS5” title already, touting features like DualSense support, immersive 3D AudioTech, and nearly instant loading times.
The PS5 Pro model could very well elevate all of that even further. Nothing has been officially stated by Rockstar on what to expect from the game if you pick up a PS5 Pro, but we can look towards other enhanced titles on Sony’s new machine for a solid idea of what’s to come.
Games that support PS5 Pro upgrades typically see improvements to image quality, lighting, resolution, and maintaining steady frame rates with the help of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). Fans are likely already hoping that means GTA 6 could run at 60 FPS smoothly for the first time. Until we know more, players should refrain from drawing hard expectations there.
Rockstar has yet to state official frame rate goals, if there are any, so we will have to wait for a proper technical rundown before we know if 60 FPS support is in the cards.Regardless, this is still a big deal for Sony.
GTA 6 is arriving exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S (via Game Pass) first, before coming to PC at a later date. If folks want the absolute best version of the game day one, the PS5 Pro may very well be the place to be.That also means shelling out for Sony’s latest pricey upgrade.
If you were on the fence about picking one up, you’ll now have to decide if the system is worth the upgrade just for GTA 6. Now that pre-orders have gone live and Rockstar’s advertising push is in full swing we should learn more about the game’s technical specifications in the coming months.
