Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on PC has received a hotfix that adds support for Machine Learning-based AMD FSR Frame Generation. Released as Patch 8, this update is only present to enhance the performance options available for those who are running the game on compatible AMD hardware.
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut does not receive major content changes or a balance pass, but it is a technical improvement for those who are in the market of extracting more playable performance from the game at demanding settings.
With the hotfix in place, Ghost of Tsushima now has support for AMD’s newer FSR Redstone tech, which is another way of upping frame rates without having to significantly compromise visual quality.
What’s included in patch 8
Support for Machine Learning-based AMD FSR Redstone Frame Generation is now included. Note that this requires AMD Radeon RX 9000 series or newer hardware.
Players will need to have installed AMD Radeon Adrenalin driver 25.12.1 and then enable the associated upgrade toggle for Ghost of Tsushima in AMD Software to then be able to utilize frame generation to enable smoother frame pacing at higher resolutions.
Patch 8 is a hotfix and is for PC only. Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut launched for PC on May 16, 2024, giving Windows players a chance to experience Sucker Punch’s open-world samurai epic with support for ultrawide, unlocked frame rates, and now even more ways to boost performance.
Final thoughts
Patch 8 isn’t a flashy or major update, but it’s a pleasant one for PC players with newer AMD hardware. Bringing in ML-based FSR Frame Generation gives Ghost of Tsushima another respectable performance option, particularly for those playing at higher resolutions or cranking up more demanding graphical settings.
It’s a small, focused update, but one that demonstrates continued support for the PC version long after launch, which is always good to see.
