Guild Wars 2 is an MMO where you pay for content and you're done, no subscription after that. Starting on May 25, 2021, even that barrier is gradually getting removed.
Many new Guild Wars 2 players are unhappy with the way content monetisation works because the upfront price they pay covers the main story from the vanilla and two expansions but the game features a lot of Living World, stories that are equally or sometimes even more interesting than regular campaigns.
These stories are paid for separately and even though you can technically earn the in-game currency and convert it to the premium one in order to buy the content, the process is long, tedious and you will have spoiled all the stories for yourself by the time you get enough gold.
With the celebration leading up to the End of Dragons expansion, you will not have to do that necessarily. Each week will feature different Living World episodes for you to grab at no cost, starting with Gates of Maguuma and Entanglement, the first two episodes of Living World Season 2. This offer will last through May 31, 2021, and the next freebie batch will kick off on June 1.
GW2 will keep giving out these episodes with each week featuring different ones, all the way up to July 27, 2021, when the devs will have a live stream and reveal more info about the upcoming expansion than on any occasion before.
