Bethesda's newest Inside the Vault blog post focuses on the reopening of the Public Test Server (PTS), the return of A Colossal Problem and Meat Week, which is almost upon us.
The test server reopens today, August 14, 2020, and it lest Fallout 76 players test out different features before they hit live. This time around, play testing includes One Wasteland, Daily Ops, Legendary Perks and even an early look at Season 2 called Armor Ace.
- ONE WASTELAND: This makes all the Appalachia creatures scale up or down on the fly, enabling players of different skill levels to play together and not feel under/overpowered. The scaling also works for the loot.
- DAILY OPS: Daily Ops are "instanced, randomized, and repeatable encounters", where enemies will feature unique mutations that require different approaches to handle. Completing Daily Ops gives you some loot, but if you complete them within certain time limits - you get better loot. Ops can be done with up to three other players.
- LEGENDARY PERKS: Fallout 76's community has been instrumental here and Bethesda are hoping they continue to do so. The amount of Perk Coins you get from scrapping regular Perk Cards is doubled, so you can upgrade your Legendary Perks twice as fast.
- ARMOR ACE: The update includes the new Armor Ace and the Power Patrol S.C.O.R.E. board, which isn't due until Patch 22 next month. PTS doesn't allow picking up Season rewards, but the dev is planning on increasing the S.C.O.R.E. rewards.
"We know some players were disappointed that the Public Event, “A Colossal Problem,” was not available on day one when we released Update 21 last week. We’re excited to let you know that we’re planning to enable “A Colossal Problem” as part of a new update coming Tuesday, August 18", Bethesda wrote.
Last but not least is Meat Week, which has been moved to Thursday, August 20, and lasts until August 26.
