Bethesda are looking to finally end the Duffle Kerfuffle as they announced the canvas duffle bags will start shipping in the week starting on 10 June 2019. The bags are being shipped half a year since Fallout 76 controversy took off.
Fallout 76 has had a rough start to put it mildly. Bethesda released an unfinished product full of glitches and it was at times literally unplayable which fueled fan rage for weeks to come. It certainly didn't help that players received cheap nylon bags in $200 Power Armour edition since the canvas was apparently too expensive and rare.
Pressured by fans and the media, Bethesda didn't have much room for manoeuvring and announced on 3 December 2018 they would replace the nylon bags with the canvas one, effectively putting the controversy known as the Duffle Kerfuffle to a halt. The post was updated several times over the coming months with notices of extension of the period where the buyers could submit a form for bag replacement.
The last extension ended on 3 May 2019 and the final update came on 6 June 2019, informing the fans that the canvas bags would start shipping in the following week. Bethesda's entire replacement process took about six months which caused inconvenience for some users since they changed their address in the meantime.
Bethesda support stated that if this was the case for anyone, they only needed to reply one more time to their existing ticket so the shipping address could get updated.
While the address change proved to be a minor inconvenience, the road to canvas bags was filled with frustration and major issues. An example of frustration would be the $5 worth of in-game money Bethesda offered as a compensation for the inferior bags while a major issue was that they accidentally doxed everyone who submitted a ticket to replace their bag.
