Nightreign Update 1.02.2 introduces significant class-specific changes

FromSoftware has released Elden Ring Nightreign Update 1.02.2, introducing class reworks, enemy balance changes, combat refinements, and bug fixes across platforms.

FromSoftware has released Elden Ring‘s Nightreign Update 1.02.2. Among all the post-launch patches, this one makes some of the largest impact on the game. The update consists of Nightfarers class balancing, combat system fine-tuning, enemy encounter reworks, as well as gameplay and technical bug fixes which impeded progression and stability.

Changes to many Nightfarer classes have been implemented to buff previously weak ones, with the Wylder, Guardian, Duchess, Raider, and several other classes being heavily affected. Stats like Strength, Dexterity, and Poise are all adjusted along with skills such as Claw Shot, Steel Guard, and dagger attacks.

All classes will have their class builds altered significantly in response to these changes, making them feel more powerful and rewarding to play with in both early and late-game runs.

Everdark Sovereigns have also been balanced for more consistent fairness and variation. The bosses themselves have new movesets, refined targeting and adjusted resistances, which provide cooperative groups of players challenging but well-balanced fights. Online penalties, along with some important UI tweaks have been made to address many of the game’s quality of life issues as well.

Balance Changes and Class Reworks

Update 1.02.2 introduces significant class-specific changes:

  • Wylder gains more stamina and Poise, while fiery follow-ups now consume stamina.
  • Guardian sees stronger scaling in Strength and Dexterity, alongside improved Wings of Salvation and guard counters.
  • Duchess benefits from longer-lasting ultimates, sharper daggers, and improved attack flow.
  • Raider receives extended skill ranges and greater stagger potential with heavy weapons.
  • Recluse, Revenant, and Executor have their abilities adjusted for better synergy in group play.

Weapons and relics have also received big updates. Dual-wield jump attacks now stagger enemies in different ways depending on weapon size. Relics such as Ironeye and Fire spread have received buffs.

Healing effects, Rune gain on critical hits, and defensive increases have all been adjusted to promote experimentation.

Enemy and Encounter Adjustments

Enemy behaviors are also changing with this update. Everdark Sovereign bosses such as Sentient Pest, Equilibrious Beast, and Darkdrift Knight have been rebalanced in order to create more dynamic encounters.

Standard enemies, such as Condemned Nightfarers, Red Wolf of the King Consort, and Marionette Soldiers, also have improved reactions to player attacks and stagger naturally more.

Limveld progression pacing has been adjusted, and spawn rates have been tweaked to make some areas less punishing for solo players. These changes, along with others, work to ensure the roguelike structure remains challenging without punishing players unfairly.

Bug Fixes and PC Improvements

Delayed input weapon combo (attack technique), cancelled Casting by delay, other combo problems, stutter animations and various Network instability. Stability was reinforced for every platform, and a lot more focus was put on PC.

You should notice that target lock-ons are more accurate than before, and certain configurations are optimized to run smoother.

A Step Forward for Nightreign

Nightreign is a roguelike spin-off from Elden Ring, so FromSoftware is chipping away at the myriad ways to play it, in the hopes of making it as balanced and fair as they can get.

As part of their dedication to polish, Update 1.02.2 not only squashes a number of frustrating bugs and glitches that had been hanging around for a while, but makes their enemy design a little more consistent and intuitive.

Elden Ring Nightreign launched on May 30, 2025, and is playable on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
