The development of Elden Ring was wrapped up months ago and the game is now in polishing phase according to Federico Fossetti, the editor for Everyeye.it, a well-known Italian website.
We have been waiting to hear more about Elden Ring for more than a year now. Ever since the developer From Software revealed the game at E3 2019, we did not get a single piece of official info about the game. Many rumours and alleged leaks surfaced in the meantime but most of these were false.
Several insiders also shared interesting details, saying that the game will not be shown in 2020 and it looks like that is indeed the case since we're just a couple of days aways from 2021.
Today, we have new details about the development but also gameplay style of Elden Ring, courtesy of Federico Fossetti from Italian gaming website Everyeye.it .
Federico claims that Elden Ring will be very well accepted by the Dark Souls series fans since the gameplay is very similar to it. Additionally, the development of Elden Ring was wrapped up in early 2020 shorty after the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, the pandemic made it harder for developers to optimise the game and have it ready for release in October/November 2020, which is why the studio changed their plans and delayed the game internally to 2021.
As always with unconfirmed information, take this with a grain of salt. It's just speculation at the moment and nothing more. That being said, this does sound like a pretty realistic scenario since other insiders are claimed that the game was initially planned for release in 2020 but got delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic.
