Techland have rolled out a 26-minute gameplay demo for their upcoming action-RPG Dying Light 2 and it shows some of the game's narrative parts, as well as a gorgeous, gruesome city, which they brought to life with great attention to detail.

As the dev reveals in the video, The City, which is what this post-apocalyptic remainder of civilisation is simply called, is quite a large area, with seven distinct sections that hide more than meets the eye. No, even more than that.

"Each one is a truly individual environment that introduces new parkour moves, enemies and gameplay mechanics", they said, but what's left to fans is to feast their eyes on the parkour opportunities The City provides.

In fact, if you're looking for the most action-packed part of the trailer, start at the fourth minute. It won't take long until you see the devastating effects of Dying Light 2's modded weapons firsthand, and that's only the start.

The action seamlessly flows into a lengthy chase with some mind-bending parkour that's fun to watch, let alone play, eventually turning into a combination of the two.

Techland have not only quadrupled the city's size compared to its predecessor, Dying Light, they also brought aboard Chris Avellone, who we believe needs no introduction.

Dying Light 2's lead designer Tymon Smektala , "We have a whole wall in our narrative team’s room devoted to presenting the relationships – sticky notes, pictures, print-outs with arrows connecting them".

This is how Dying Light 2's development team made sure that the narrative depends on the player's choices, and not only will these be reflected in your immediate surroundings, whatever call you make will also affect the neighbouring sections of The City.

Dying Light 2 is slated for launch in the first half of 2020, which is as specific as Techland are willing to go, and it should launch for the of consoles too. Coincidentally, Dying Light launched at a somewhat similar time, ultimately deciding to support only the freshly launched consoles in addition to PC.
