Destiny 2: The Witch Queen expansion has been focusing on a new hybrid melee weapon but the newest trailer also teased a sword that has a rather peculiar look.
Destiny 2 is getting glaives which will be one of the biggest innovations coming in The Witch Queen. While the name and looks of the weapon suggest it's a melee tool for disposing of enemies, it also features utility and ranged attack capabilities. On the side of pure melee, we got to see a fairly interesting design for a sword in the launch trailer for WQ.
Namely, there is a quick glance at the entrance to the new raid towards the end of the trailer and we see a few Guardians grouping up next to it. One of them is wielding what appears to be a light sabre.
While copyright infringement would definitely put a stop to introducing actual light sabres to Destiny 2, Bungie folks are no stranger to introducing weapons that are reminiscent of iconic parts of other intellectual properties' arsenal but with a few differences. The Halo-like weapons are a great example of this and having something reminiscent of Star Wars will almost certainly be a great addition for the fans.
Besides the cool new sword, the trailer captured the fans' attention with a tracked shot of a Titan going all John Wick on the Hive, which you can see from the 1:25 time stamp onwards.
Destiny 2: The Witch Queen is releasing on February 22, 2022, exactly one week after the launch trailer's premiere.
