Bungie are finally introducing a quality of life change that Destiny 2 players have been requesting for a long time.

Destiny 2 's armour mechanics have undergone more than one overhaul and each time it happens, there are further iterations that patch up the things devs may not have added but would be fantastic changes. One such change is the Glimmer cost for equipping different mods after the introduction of the transmog system.

The UI and the whole shebang was there to provide the maximum customisation opportunities for the players but for some reason, Bungie never removed the trivial amount of Glimmer needed to swap the mods out. Those who weren't changing builds often didn't have an issue with this but the system discouraged experimenting in an oppressive manner as those small amounts of Glimmer would quickly add up as you kept swapping several mods in five armour pieces.

Thankfully, this issue will be removed on the next weekly reset, which is on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. From that point onwards, swapping armour mods will be instant and you will no longer have to pay a fee in any type of currency. This will allow changing builds on the fly and the time saving from not having to hold the button down to equip a mod is arguably just as valuable as the Glimmer cost.

On top of that, you will be able to swap mods with any Destiny 2 apps that have the feature, offering even more opportunities to test new things out. It remains to be seen if this will be doable during loading screens - if it is, it will probably be one of the best quality of life changes of the entire year.
