Frontier Developments has released another Animal Spotlight video for Planet Zoo 2, and this time, they are focusing on the gorgeous Indo-Pacific Leopard Shark, also known as the Zebra Shark for the striped pattern it wears as a pup.
It's certainly one of the more striking additions to the game's growing aquatic roster.
The shark gets both of its common names from a stunning transformation. As pups, Indo-Pacific Leopard Sharks carry bold, zebra-like stripes, which the species uses to mimic venomous sea snakes and put off potential predators.
As they mature, those stripes fade into the long tails and spotted bodies that make adults instantly recognisable, and give the species its other name.
Interestingly, the devs are pitching the species as one of the more relaxed sharks in the game, describing it as calm, graceful and naturally curious about exploring every corner of its habitat.
As for you, the Zoo manager, this species will want open space for it to glide through and soft sand for resting, while enrichment items help keep it stimulated given it's typically most active at night.
That gentle temperament also makes it well suited to mixed-species exhibits, with Frontier confirming it can cohabit with rays and other fish, giving players another option for building varied, believable aquariums. Sounds incredibly exciting for all, Planet Zoo hardcore fans.
Planet Zoo 2 launches on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on 13 October 2026, and is currently available to pre-order.
