Zevlor quickly became the fan-favourite NPC after he laid out a particularly annoying and selfish human in the beginning of the game.
Helping him out in Baldur's Gate 3 means helping out an entire group of Tiefling refugees but it seems like he messes up in the second act of the game.
You will find clues of a fight gone wrong for the Tieflings all over the Shadow Cursed Lands, with Zevlor nowhere to be found.
Solving the mystery depends on you finding the former Hellrider but the thing is you don't actually get to meet him for most of Act 2.
He will be found in a different area which is found either after facing off with Ketheric Thorm or visiting the Moonrise Towers prison, where you can jump into a seemingly bottomless pit.
Upon arriving in the disturbingly fleshy area, you will start finding victims of Absolutists' abductions and Zevlor will be found distraught but unharmed. His guilt-ridden conscience will not let him stay silent about what happened and he will confess he fell under the Absolute's influence for a moment, resulting in massive casualties for the Tieflings.
At this point, you can decide what to do with him but showing mercy might a good way to go. You never know when you might need a powerful Paladin ally.
