Infinity Ward have rolled out the Season 5 roadmap for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, which includes new multiplayer maps, operators, two free guns, and more.
"As the chaos intensifies across Verdansk and the Armistice alliance becomes strained beyond its breaking point, a new force descends into the conflict. Shadow Company makes an explosively memorable entrance into the world of Modern Warfare, dropping in with style to make a statement and bolster the Allegiance, despite the company’s fireteam seemingly operating independently under their own set of rules", they wrote.
Call of Duty: Warzone is getting some free real estate with the opening of the Stadium doors, which the dev promises will significantly change the look, feel and tactical outlook in this area of the map. It comes with additional underground parking, concession stand lobby.
There's the Train Station too, with a potential new mobile base of operations - the freight train. If you can hold it, that is.
At launch, players get to try out four new multiplayer maps, which include a new Ground War experience, two 6v6 maps and a Gunfight map tailored for pure carnage and frenetic tempo.
Infinity Ward also cooked up Mini Royale, a mode that has fewer operators on Verdansk but makes up for it in intensity. "Only the first and last five minutes of a normal BR game exist meaning rapid deployment, constant movement, and high-kill strategies are set to yield victories that are both short and sweet", they wrote.
Call of Duty's dev team worked hard on weapon updating, with eight common, 13 uncommon, 15 rare, 19 epic and 25 legendary variants sprinkled across the map.
Warzone and Modern Warfare players can unlock two brand new weapons for free - ISO SMG (Tier 15) and AN-94 AR (31). AN-94 is a Russian AR with hyperburst, which follows up initial shots with an instantaneous second round.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is getting four new maps in Season 5 - Livestock-Gunfight, Petrov Oil Rig-multiplayer, Suldal Harbor-multiplayer, and Verdansk International Airport-Ground War, all of which will be available at launch.
