Destiny 2 players may be stuck with names they don't like anymore and Bungie is offering the opportunity to change them, with a couple of caveats.
Destiny 2 community is highly creative, or at least was, when it comes to in-game names on PC. The reason for this was that the Steam names were carried over to the game and they could change them as much as they liked. It all changed when Bungie names were implemented instead and those who didn't see the news ahead of time suddenly found themselves stuck with the last moniker they chose.
Bungie is currently offering a chance to change your name if you don't like it and the process is rather simple:
- Log into bungie.net
- Go to Profile Settings
- Choose Identity Settings
- Change the Bungie Name field to whatever you like now
- Click Save Settings at the bottom of the page
There are a few things you need to keep in mind here. First, you can only update your name once so if you decide your name will be a comment on Savathun's thickness, you are stuck with it until Bungie offers another opportunity to change the name and there is no guarantee they will.
Secondly, the names need to adhere to Bungie's Code of Conduct and "will be subject to moderation" so it's possible you're risking action against your account if it's something that breaks the guidelines.
That said, there is still plenty of space for creative names if you are looking to find yourself in r/destinyusernames .
