Info about Destiny 2 on next-gen consoles was somewhat scarce but Bungie came up big on June 9, 2020, when they revealed several key points that the fans are absolutely going to love.
Destiny 2 on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will run in 4K at 60 FPS according to Bungie's big reveal stream. Technically, they said this is what the team is aiming for but considering how well optimised the game is on PC already, it's hard to imagine it wouldn't run that well with the powerful next-gen hardware.
While the console players can already celebrate on that info alone, they are in for a few more treats. First of all, and probably the bit of news regarding Destiny next-gen that will be received with the most acclaim is that you can upgrade it for free.
There will be no extra charge to play Destiny 2 on PS5 and XSX, provided that you own it on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One X. All the content you own on current-gen will carry over to next-gen so you don't have to worry about shelling out money for Beyond Light, only to have to buy it again a few months later.
Luke Smith and Mike Noseworthy completed the slam dunk by announcing intergenerational crossplay. The team is apparently working on keeping the player pool together, regardless of which generation of their console they are playing on.
They will be aiming to make the game versions into a single ecosystem in the future but not much else has been revealed during the stream. Then again, one can handle only so many good news in a single day.
