Early Name Reservation for World Of Warcraft: Forever opens on October 27, letting eligible players lock in up to three character names a week before launch on November 4, Blizzard Entertainment confirmed. Names are first come, first served, so here’s who can take part, when it starts in your region and exactly how to reserve yours.
When does WoW Forever name reservation start?
Early Name Reservation runs from October 27 to November 3. The start time depends on your region:
| Region | Start time |
|---|---|
| Europe | October 27 at 18:00 CET (17:00 GMT in the UK) |
| North America | October 27 at 1:00 p.m. PDT (4:00 p.m. ET) |
| Korea | October 28 at 07:00 KST |
| Taiwan | October 28 at 07:00 CST |
Popular names will go quickly, so being there when your region opens gives you the best shot.
Who can reserve a name in WoW Forever?
Early Name Reservation is only open to players who have pre-purchased one of the paid upgrade editions on the Battle.net Shop:
- Skyborne Heroic Pack
- Skyborne Epic Pack
- Warcraft Forever Collection (limited-time)
If you haven’t pre-purchased, you can still play WoW Forever from launch with an active WoW subscription or game time. You just won’t get the early reservation window.
How many names can you reserve?
You can create and reserve names for up to three characters in total across all rulesets. That cap is shared, so if you make two characters on a PvP ruleset, you only have one left for Normal or Role-Play.
The limit only applies to Early Name Reservation. It isn’t a permanent cap on how many characters you can make once the game is live.
How to reserve your name in WoW Forever, step by step
- Update your graphics drivers. Do this before the window opens so you’re not stuck waiting on a download.
- Install the Battle.net desktop app if you don’t already have it.
- Open Battle.net and let it update if prompted.
- Select World of Warcraft from your list of games.
- Change the game version. In the Game Version menu above the Play button, choose World of Warcraft: Forever, then click Install.
- Launch the game. Once installation finishes, click Play and choose your ruleset.
- Create up to three characters using the names you want to reserve.
Tips for getting the name you want
Blizzard say names are first come, first served and that a specific name can’t be guaranteed, so a bit of prep helps.
- Decide your rulesets first. With only three slots, work out which characters you care about most before the window opens.
- Have backups ready. Popular fantasy names will go in the first few minutes.
- Use both parts of your name. Characters in WoW Forever have two names, like a first and last name, and names are unique per region. That gives you far more room to find something original.
- Be ready on launch day for everything else. Any characters beyond your three early reservations will be made once the game goes live on November 4.
