Battlefield 6 Season 2 launches on February 17, introducing a new Germany-set map, Contaminated, with Golmud Railway returning in a future season.

Battlefield 6 is preparing for its second major season update, with Season 2 debuting on February 17. EA officially announced the update on February 10 alongside a new gameplay trailer for players to enjoy their first official look at the next chapter.

Highlights in the gameplay trailer show an emphasis on Germany as players fight to take control of Hagental Airbase in Bravia. We had previously seen gameplay leak before the official announcement earlier this week, but now we have an idea of the scale of Season 2 and what’s to come when it launches next week.

Season 2 will look to improve pacing, flow, and provide players with more traditional Battlefield style battles, beginning with its fresh batch of maps.

New Season 2 Map: Contaminated

Season 2 will kick off with a new addition to the map rotation dubbed Contaminated. EA specifically states that this new map is a medium map. Comparatively, the developer notes that it’s bigger than Eastwood but smaller than Mirak Valley. As such, you can expect it to line up with community favorites like St. Quentin Scar from Battlefield 1 or Arras from Battlefield V.

Speaking further on the map’s design, EA detailed that Contaminated was built with a specific time-to-action in mind. Battlefield wants players to get into relevant action quicker without tedious traversal time, all while maintaining Battlefield’s signature big-warfeel.

From what can be seen in the trailer, this map looks to be a bit on the crowded side with multiple lanes of combat. This should provide great diversity between infantry firefights and vehicular mayhem.

Golmud Railway Returning

Alongside news of this new map, EA confirmed that one of Battlefield 4’s biggest maps will return for Battlefield 6. Golmud Railway won’t be featured as part of Season 2, but is expected to return in a future season.

This continues EA’s initiative to remix fan-favorite Battlefield maps with quality of life improvements that modernize the map for fans old and new on current-gen systems.Season 2 of Battlefield 6 is sure to grow the map pool while tuning the core gameplay recipe as we dive further into 2026.
