Electronic Arts has today revealed that Battlefield 6 has enjoyed the “biggest launch in franchise history,” with over 7 million copies sold across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The company has further revealed that over 172 million online matches were played and 15 million hours were watched throughout the game’s opening weekend. This is all of course thanks to Battlefield’s huge and active community who were at the center of its success.
The Battlefield general manager Byron Beede said in a statement, “The community is at the heart of our Battlefield franchise and player feedback has been at the center of every decision we made throughout development. We’re so grateful to everyone who made Battlefield’s biggest launch in franchise history a reality, and had a hand in helping us craft the game during our record-shattering Open Beta.”
EA Celebrates a Milestone Launch
Echoing his sentiments, Vince Zampella, Executive Vice President at EA, added, “Our global development teams have worked incredibly hard over the past few years to bring Battlefield 6 to life and we can’t thank our fans around the world enough for embracing the game just a few days after launch.”
Of course, the team is already hard at work preparing for the first Season 1, set to launch on October 28. The first update for Battlefield 6 will see a whole host of new maps, modes, and weapons, among other features, which will only expand the big, bold ambitions of the game.
What’s Next for Battlefield 6
Battlefield 6 season 1 update is scheduled to arrive on October 28. According to rumours, the team may also have a free-to-play Battle Royale mode launching around the same time.
With a record-breaking launch already under its belt, Battlefield 6 is clearly off to a flying start and it is shaping up to be one of EA’s biggest successes to date.
