Ambush will test players' surviving skills in battle royale mode by limiting the weapons to sniper rifles and melee. The new mode will replace the current limited-time mode Down But Not Out which is scheduled to end on 30 January 2019.
After a leak on Reddit revealed the name and short description of a yet unannounced Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout limited-time mode, Treyarch have officially responded to thread confirming the leaked info.
Ambush will be the next limited-time mode in Blackout and it's scheduled to release at the end of January when the current Down But Not Out mode is ending. "Down But Not Out will be live for a couple of weeks on each platform, which started on PS4 earlier this week. We’re planning to launch Ambush into the wild immediately afterwards," Treyarch's official Reddit account confirmed in the thread.
The new mode will only offer sniper rifles and melee weapons. Also, perks like Skulker, which allows players to move faster when crouched/prone, and Dead Silence, which reduces sound when opening stashes, will be one of the most valuable perks in Ambush according to the leaked picture.
The Outlander pick-up also gets a mention in the leak. This one reduces the damage from the circle and increases player's speed when outside of the zone. Another interesting thing is that once the circle starts collapsing, it will never stop until the end which could result in some intense fights on the circle's borders.
Ambush will probably release on PlayStation 4 first before going live on PC and Xbox. Judging by previous updates, the new mode could land on PC and Xbox on 6 February 2019, just a week after PS4 release.
You can try out the current Down But Not Out for free and also take part in other PVP modes which are available in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7-day free trial.
Down But Not Out is currently exclusive to Squads and includes some fresh additions to Blackout with its respawn system. This means that as long as one of the squad members is alive, others can respawn after each circle.
