The puzzles in Silent Hill 2, the latest horror adventure from Konami, become gradually harder as the game progresses, and some of them will challenge your puzzle-solving skills big time.
One very hard puzzle awaits inside the game's second area called Wood Side Apartments, more precisely on its second floor. Inside the room, you can peek from outside, but if you decide to enter it, you won't be able to leave until you solve the safe combination.

How to open the safe in room 206
By exploring the first floor, you'll come across a closet with two handles, once you interact with one of them, the other will fall off, and you'll receive the Golden Apple Handle item. This item will be required to open the closet next to room 206.
Once you open the closet, you'll be able to interact with it from its left side and move it aside, opening the path for you to enter the room with the safe. When you enter the room, the door will close and you'll be stuck until you find a way to open the safe.
The safe has a combination of three numbers to enter. If you look at the wall through which you just entered the room, you'll see a text on it. Read it; it holds hints about the numbers you must enter. To be honest, I managed to figure out only the last two numbers, not the first one, but it was enough because I just had to guess several numbers.
The first word of the first hint says "right," meaning the dialler must go to the right first. I already said I hadn't figured out the first number, so I had to guess it. By trying several numbers, I found out the number 13 is the correct one, so dial 13 right first.
The second hint tells something about the left and a house and the footsteps. If you look to the left of the safe with your headlight on, you'll see a drawn house with footsteps, and number seven next to it. So dial 7 to the left.
The last hint mentions a river. Look to the corner of the room, right from the safe, and you'll see a drawn river with the number 11 next to it. Turn the dial to 11 left and press execute. This should open the safe. Inside the safe, you'll find a coin that is needed for the progress and the key to unlock the door and exit the room.
To recapitulate, if you do not want to read all the explanations inside this guide, simply dial 13 right, 7 left, and 11 right; that's the correct safe combination.
