Biff Apscott is a poor excuse for a mercenary but he still somehow managed to swipe the green diamond in Jagged Alliance 3 and you may want to get that treasure back.
He can be found at the Hill Station but no matter what you do, you will have to go through a tough battle to save him initially.
After the Hill Station battle, you can talk to him and Haemimont made it pretty hard not to decide to kill the incompetent leader of MERC.
Getting the green diamond without killing Biff
Just like the dialogue suggested, you are able to get the diamond without looting it off of Biff's corpse.
For him to hand it over, you will need to bring a MERC teammate, meaning you will either have to come around with Larry or the less appealing option, Smiley.
To recruit Smiley, you will have to go through a bunch of hoops, ending in a massive battle at Boss Blaubert place and you will find that his abilities are fairly lacking.
Meanwhile, Larry is fairly easy to recruit but that is not enough to get the diamond. Larry actually needs to be rehabilitated first, otherwise he just goes on a wild rant that references the Lord of the Rings.
What to do with the diamond
You can cash the diamond in for $50,000 or turn it in to Emma for the Museum of the Adjani. If you choose the latter option, you will get to choose where to put three packs of reinforcements. The choice whether to cash in, keep the diamond or give it to her will impact the associated ending slide.
