Jagged Alliance 3 players will often find treasures from Grand Chien's history, which can be cashed in for $3,000 or donated to the Museum of the Adjani in Port Cacao.
Many of them are guaranteed to be found in certain areas where we encounter the treasure hunter Lucky Veinard and his sidekick, Schliemann.
Veinard is convinced the chicken can find treasures but in truth, he already has the necessary clues but is to incompetent to dig them up himself. That is where the mercs come in.
Finding Veinard's treasures
You will need over 80 in Wisdom and Strength to recover all the treasures. Since these do not need to be on the same character, feel free to recruit a combination of high WIS and STR mercs. First, you will need to find the treasures in at least two of the following four locations. After that, you can encounter Veinard and Schliemann in Farmland (K18).
Mfumu's Mine (H7)
The first treasure you will come across is in Mfumu's Mine (H7) which is usually the first mine you will conquer after leaving Ernie Island. Talking to Veinard multiple times will reveal the treasure is buried next to a tree. He is currently standing in front of one but it is the wrong tree so just go to the opposite side of the dig site and interact with the soil under the other tree.
Broken Hill Cemetery (C3)
Exhausting Veinard's lines will cause him to go speak to Schliemann and inadvertently give you two clues - "Ice" and "Angels". There is a pile of graves and you can dig up several of them after the clues are obtained. Inspect the gravestones until you find the one called "Angel Eyes". Dig it up and claim the treasure.
Did you know?
Schliemann is named after a real-life archaeologist who discovered Troy. Instead of going down in history on a positive note for a legendary discovery, he is mostly known for destroying much of the site due to using explosives without realising what he stumbled upon.
Burial Grounds (J11)
Once again, talk to Veinard until he gives you the clue. In this case, it is that the ritual book holds the instructions for finding the treasure. The book is on a ledge above the burial grounds. Interact with it and you will get a new clue about ritual sacrifices and one of them being empty. Find the empty ritual stone, interact with it and you have another piece of treasure.
Archaeological Site (E14)
Speaking with Veinard here will give you a cryptic clue: "Look into the eyes of the three-headed beast. The right head sees into your future, the left looks into your fortune."
The three-headed statue is located close to Veinard. As you face it, follow the direction the head to your left is pointing into a small thicket where you will be able to dig out the treasure with a Wisdom check.
Farmland (K18)
Once you've looted treasure in at least two of the locations above, you will be able to encounter the dynamic duo in this particular zone. Keep interacting with Schliemann until Veinard gets frustrated, at which point you can talk with him. He will give you the next clue.
Keep in mind that the Teddy Bear Killer mission can interfere with the spawns so you may want to complete that one beforehand.
