Torrent is your trusty steed in Elden Ring but you have to do a couple of things first before jumping on his comfy back.
You can spend hours in Limgrave before getting your hands on a horse called Torrent. Elden Ring will not tell you how to get this trusty steed, which is not unusual for From Software games.
Finding Torrent is not hard but it can be a bit annoying if you look in the wrong places since the starting area of Elden Ring is quite big.
Where to find horse Torrent in Elden Ring?
Torrent is obtained from Melina, a Firekeeper-like female NPC in Elden Ring, which you can meet at a Site of Grace near the Gatefront Ruins.
Once you grace the site near the ruins, a cutscene will activate, introducing you to Melina, who will give you a summon for Torrent.

Once Melina gifts you Torrent, you can then summon the horse by going into your inventory and adding the Spectral Steed Whistle to one of the slots in the quick menu and you're good to go.
You can then scroll to the Spectral Steed Whistle by using your D-pad on the controller and activating it with the default use button, which is the X button on the Xbox controller.
