Hawkmoon, one of the best and prettiest guns from the original Destiny is back and it requires a few chores and completion of a scavenger hunt before you can obtain it in Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 will offer the Hawkmoon quest via the Spider in Tangled Shore so that's your first stop. If he is not offering the quest, you can check out our list of reasons why Hawkmoon quest might not be appearing so you can complete all the prerequisites and get into finding the weapon.
Finding the feathers
Once you've visited the Spider and picked up the quest, you will need to find five feathers. The first one is located just outside Spider's lair so you can just backtrack into the Thieves' Landing and the moment you leave the lair, the feather will be on a box to your left.
For the second feather, you will need to travel to The Sludge in EDZ. After landing on the waypoint, travel west in a straight line to reach the ruined building, directly above the crosshair on the image below.
Here is another image just so you can see the exact spot you need to climb.
For the third feather, just fast travel to Steppes in Cosmodrome and climb the pillar directly in front of you.
After that one, travel to Divalian Mists in the Dreaming City. Just as you spawn, you will see a huge purple gate in a mountain. Go to that gate.
As you reach the gate, the feather will be on the base of the left pillar.
Fifth and final feather is on the Moon. Spawn at the Sanctuary, turn left and go to the Archer's Line, to the same spot as on the map below and face the same way.
You will see the pas towards some Hive enemies, as pictured below. Enter the door to the left, marked by the red X.
Go through the tunnel, drop down and go through the only door in the pit until you reach the Hall of Wisdom. Turn right and go into the room that has a structure that looks like a chandelier.
Go beneath the chandelier and enter the next tunnel, which will be on your left. Proceed through it and you will reach a room with a Cryptolith. Move past it and enter the second tunnel.
Once you're through the tunnel, you will encounter some Hive. Either kill them or run past them until you eventually end up in a room with a huge structure and a Barrier Knight in it. Stick to the left and move until you reach the feather, as seen in the image below.
Once you've taken the last feather, return to the Crow and grab the next part of the quest. The remaining steps are fairly straightforward and have quest markers for the most part.
After the conversation, open the map, go to Sludge in EDZ and go to the new mission marker. Do the mission which is a slightly extended version of a local Lost Sector but it's recommended to have at least 1,180 Power/Light. The boss here will be immune until you kill shiny Taken, take the Relics they drop and throw them at the boss, damaging its shield.
Once you're done with the mission, return to the Crow and talk to him again. Now you will have to create and collect 50 orbs of power. Creating an orb counts as one point and picking it up counts again. When your Super energy is full, you can't collect orbs so make sure you spend it as soon as possible.
The quickest way to complete this step is to grab a masterworked weapon that uses primary ammo, proceed to any Lost Sector in Trostland and kill the weak enemies - two by two in quick succession. Doing it like this will grant an orb for every two quick kills. After you get all 50 points, return to the Crow and talk with him again.
He will now task you with collecting five additional feathers but the location of the first one is marked as a mission start in Trostland, EDZ. Go there, grab the first letter and proceed down the pipe. Wade through the dam that you end up in and nearby feathers will be marked the same way materials are in open-world areas. Grab all the feathers and try guessing what you need to do next. Yup, go back to Tangled Shore and talk with Crow once again. Thankfully, you will not need to do this again until the end of the quest.
The new task Crow gives you is to get 100 points by killing Guardians or Champions. Guardians count for one point in PvP but only if it's you who lands the final blow. Meanwhile, Champions count as three points. It is up to you to decide whether you'll run activities that contain Champions or just go into the Crucible and farm some players.
After that is complete, the last part of the quest will activate, sending you to the Sludge once again, to the same mission that starts with the Lost Sector. You will need 1,220 Power/Light this time around. Just like before, the mechanics are to kill the shiny Taken, grab the orbs they drop and throw them at the boss until its immunity is removed, at which point you can nuke it for 30 per cent HP and then rinse and repeat.
That wraps up the quest and Hawkmoon is yours. Now it only remains for you to enjoy the weapon and surprise some Guardians with ridiculous damage output from that last bullet.
