Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, set to be one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2023, continues the Task Force 141 saga with the return of characters like Makarov and the Konni Group.
Alongside its gripping campaign, Modern Warfare 3 brings an overhauled multiplayer experience, complete with a brand-new game mode called Cutthroat.
What makes Cutthroat unique is that it's the first-ever 3v3v3 objective-based mode in the history of Call of Duty.
Understanding Cutthroat Mode
Cutthroat is a round-based game mode where three teams, each consisting of three players, compete in an objective-based battle. The central objective is a moving flag that becomes the focal point of intense confrontations.
This innovative game mode was unveiled at the CoD Next 2023 event, offering a solution to the issue where teams of three had to queue for regular team-based modes. Now, trios can engage in Cutthroat matches against other trios, delivering an experience akin to the popular 2v2 gunfight mode.
The Mechanics of Cutthroat Game Mode
In Cutthroat, the three teams begin the match at separate spawn points on the map. Their objective is to converge on the moving flag, either capturing it or eliminating rival players. This game mode is set to be available on all remastered maps as well as the new ones introduced with Modern Warfare 3's launch.
Sledgehammer Games, the developer, seeks to provide a fresh challenge for players, and it's important to note that Cutthroat won't replace any existing game modes. This exciting new addition is expected to be part of the open beta phase of Modern Warfare 3.
