Activision have continued their remaster-happy winning streak as Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled stormed to the pole position in UK's physical sales chart, absolutely pummeling last week's winner FIFA 19 in the process of getting there.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled officially launched on 21 June 2019, so Activision's blast from the past didn't even compete until late into the week.
Nevertheless, it managed to outperform EA's sports title by selling almost eight times more copies. It's worth noting that FIFA 19 is one of the chart's best and most consistent performers, which makes Crash's result all the more impressive, even if the comparison is heavily Crash-biased.
Namely, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is a fresh title, whereas FIFA 19 has been around since September 2018, so we'll have to wait a bit before the initial hype has subsided in order to get a fair comparison.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is the third best launch of 2019, just behind SIE Bend's Days Gone and Capcom's Resident Evil 2, and as much as 66 per cent of sales were on PlayStation 4, Crash's original and previously exclusive home.
At the same time, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled has officially scored the second highest week one sales, the leader being Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.
Just to jog your memory, N. Sane Trilogy's stay atop of UK's physical sales chart stretched to incredible eight weeks, and we're sure Activision will be hoping for a repeat.
Following some tempting Days of Play sales, FIFA 19 and Days Gone were the last week's winners, so the 64 per cent drop by SIE Bend's zombilicious shooter isn't exactly a cause for concern.
Ubisoft's The Division 2 jumped to ninth place, all the way from downtown, i.e. 24th place, most likely courtesy of the recent discounts.
We're talking solely about physical copies here, so be aware that including digital sales would likely skewer the picture somewhat fierce. Also, if you know anyone who ragequit Crash, tell them we said hi.
