Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled has received a patch that introduces improved loading times on all platforms, including Switch in its Boost Mode. The patch also brings some stability fixes for online play and fixes for track lap exploits.
In our , we praised the game for its visuals and fun gameplay among other things but also mentioned long loading times as one of the negatives.
Many players felt the same, which is why Beenox decided to work on the issue and improve loading times in one of the post-launch patches. Well, it looks like the developers managed to do that in the latest update. According to the patch notes for mid-July update, the loading times have been improved across all platforms - PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
The update is now live on Sony's and Microsoft's consoles and arrives sometime this week for Nintendo Switch players. Keep in mind that improvements to loading times on Switch will be noticeable when using the console's Boost Mode.
While the patch notes don't mention if the loading times have seen any significant improvements, we can confirm that the change is indeed noticeable on our PlayStation 4 Pro console.
The track loading and returning to the main menu seems faster, while loading times in online play also slightly improved.
Along with the improvements to loading times, Beenox also addressed a couple of other things in the latest patch. There are stability fixes when playing online and adjustments to track selection frequency when choosing tracks in online matchmaking lobbies, which should add more variety to track selection. Beenox also implemented a fix for various track lap exploits on some maps.
There are also fixes for lobbies not repopulating properly after a player quits and position shuffling and rewards at the race end. The former was particularly annoying for many players, including us at AltChar, and we're glad that Beenox finally addressed this issue.
Last but not least, adjustments have been made to global cooldown for power-ups on all players to prevent timeclock/warp orb spamming.
