Sega’s Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is only getting bigger with a Season Pass that brings characters like SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the heroes of Avatar Legends. The next wave of playable characters will let players race as their favorite animated characters, all racing alongside Sonic and his friends.
In the latest gameplay trailer, SpongeBob and Patrick are the stars, racing on a new track based on Bikini Bottom. Players will recognize the iconic Krusty Krab while speeding along, dodging the laser eyes of a giant Plankton robot.
Following the Minecraft characters - Steve, Creeper, and Alex - these characters will release after the Minecraft-inspired content. This content drop was also confirmed to include appearances from Hatsune Miku and characters from Persona 5, so get ready for a whole lot of crossovers.
Release Date and Early Access for the Season Pass
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds releases on September 25, 2025, on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch (with a Switch 2 version on the way). The Digital Deluxe Edition includes three days of early access, three bonus racers from Sonic Prime, and all of the Season Pass content.
As if all of that wasn’t enough, Sega promises balanced and fun gameplay for the new kart racer. Some of the franchise’s most “overpowered” and “stressful” items have been removed to provide for a less challenging experience.
What’s Next for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds?
Between post-launch content dropping in waves and popular characters from SpongeBob and Avatar Legends joining the fold, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds should pull in fans from many different universes.
The new racer’s release in September will mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter for racing fans, as even more characters and tracks arrive.
