Nintendo gave us a pretty short notice for the official 3.0 update to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the update launches today, bringing with it a new character, Joker, the recently leaked Stage Builder, as well as a video editor.

Just in case the image didn't make it clear, it's not Batman's Joker - you're looking at the protagonist of Persona-5, which, ironically, isn't out for the Switch. Well, at least not yet, but we'll have to wait for an official confirmation from Atlus.

Anyway, Joker is part of Character Pass, meaning he comes with a $6 price tag, and he's the first of 5 incoming DLC characters. He also brings his own Mementos stage, which shapeshifts in tune with the Persona franchise tunes featured in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Joker's moves are broken down from 3:20, but we'll give you a quick rundown - his neutral special is a gun, which can be held or tapped to keep firing. While doing so, you can dodge, even mid-air.

His up special is a grappling hook that's as helpful in getting to safety as it is with pulling enemies close, while his side special invokes Eiha, which inflicts damage over time. Poor Yoshi.

Still, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's new character really comes into his own with his down special Rebel's Guard, which absorbs damage from single hits and combos alike, filling up Joker's Rebellion gauge and knocking enemies back.

Filling up the gauge means activating Arsene, manifestation of Joker's Persona, which pretty much supercharges each of his moves, culminating with the final smash aptly called All-Out Attack.

Today's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate update also brings the Stage Builder, even though Nintendo accidentally spoiled that surprise in an unrelated trailer. Not that there was much to spoil, since Smashes usually get them, but still. You can check it out at around 11:04.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's video editor seems like a simple and fun way to Martin Scorcese the clips of your favourite wins, although we'll see how it works in practice.
