NetherRealm have officially revealed three new fighters that are joining the Mortal Kombat roster. Liu Kang, Kung Lao and Jax will return to the series after appearing in the previous instalment in the beloved franchise - Mortal Kombat X.
Mortal Kombat 11 is almost here, and with less than a month from the official release, NetherRealm are building up the hype with reveals of new characters that will be joining the brutal fighter's roster.
Earlier this month, NetherRealm announced that that one of the fan favourites - Noob Saibot will return after missing out on a spot in Mortal Kombat 11, and the main villain Shang Tsung will be available as the game's first DLC character.
The latest reveals include three familiar characters that we saw in many earlier instalments, including the latest one -Mortal Kombat X. Jax, Liu Kang and Kung Lao will be joining the roster, which means that Mortal Kombat 11 base game roster now counts 24 confirmed characters.
In the KombatKast stream, NetherRealm have showcased all three characters and some of their reworked and new moves. Jax, as usual, is the heaviest hitter in the game, and his Fatal Blow move shows him unleashing the power of his cybernetically-enhanced arms on poor Kabal.
In his fatality move, he attaches some kind of tiny jetpack to Kabal, who then flies towards Jax's fists that split Kabal into two pieces.
Kung Lao is following closely with his own speciality move that includes splitting heads and bodies with his razor-sharp hat, while Liu Kang uses his fire dragon to cause devastation.
For those unfamiliar with Mortal Kombat 11's Fatal Blows, they are essentially a replacement for X-Ray Blows but with a couple of changes.
Players will be able to use them once per match when they find themselves in critical, near-death situations. As the name suggests, Fatal Blows deal massive damage and can even the odds in a one-sided match.
However, if missed, the ability will be put on cooldown, preventing players to spam it over and over again.
Mortal Kombat 11 is out on 23 April 2019 for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch.
