Fortnite's Season 5 was just introduced and with it came a lot of changes. Bars is the new in-game currency the players will be able to earn in several different ways.
Fortnite's Season 5 is now underway. The new season will end on March 15, 2020, but until then, you can enjoy everything Zero Point has to offer.
Zero Point season bounties and characters
The exposed Zero Point has brought back a bunch of different characters to the game, and this time not everyone is trying to end you. Try talking to the new additions to complete Quests and walk away ten tons richer.
Some Fortnite Characters and static Bounty Boards will even offer a Bounty Event for you and your party. The bounty will require you to hunt another player before time runs out.
You're not going in blind, but neither is your prey - you can check the map for your target's last known location and race the other hunters to a confirmed kill. The hunted can use the Tracking meter to estimate where the Hunters are and avoid being taken out. This will grant the hunted player a reward instead.
Targeted teammates should also be protected as the rewards will be shared among the group.
After the timer reaches zero, the successful team will be compensated with a new in-game currency - Bars.

Bars are a new currency found throughout the Island. You can dig them up from behind the couch, loot them from safes, or pluck them off fallen enemies.
The most bang-for-your-buck option will be bounties. Completing these contracts will yield a batch of the stuff. The bar balance on your account will follow you from match to match and you will be able to spend them as you choose.
Bars are not a paid currency. The only way to earn them is from in-game activities, Character challenges, and gameplay. In tournament and Arena play, your persistent stash of Bars will be unavailable and all Bars will be earned in each match.
What Are Fortnite Bars
The Characters that have been added to the world of Fortnite will be happy to exchange weapons, upgrades and services for your Bars. Trade your stash in for some high-class Exotic weapons, helpful consumables and upgrades, or even additional manpower in the form of the merchants themselves.
If you feel like saving or are generally low on cash, you can always push for a one-on-one duel against the merchant and walk away with their lot. Meeting all the Characters of the Island and adding them to your Collection Book will aid you in planning your next drop spot.
