Why Shadow of War's Shelob is a woman - a theory

Talking to Eurogamer, Monolith's creative vice president Michael de Plater has tried to explain why Shelob has foregone her giant spider form in order to appear as a dressed-up Liv Tyler lookalike. The cause for this may be a lot simpler than Monolith would have you believe.

Paradox CFO steps down

Paradox Interactive CFO Andras Vajlok has decided to step down from his position. Andras will remain with the company until a successor has been recruited and a thorough transition has taken place. Paradox's Battletech project has been delayed into early 2018.

Rock of Ages 2: Bigger & Boulder release date

Rock of Ages 2: Bigger and Boulder will launch in two weeks. The sequel to Rock of Ages will come with an upgraded multiplayer feature. Xbox One players will have a 10 percent discount. PlayStation 4 and Steam users will be offered a special bundle.

The Escapists 2 - three moving prisons

The Escapists 2 is launching for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 22 August. The game will feature ten prisons total, including three transit prisons. A Switch version will come out on a later date.

The latest trailer for Middle-earth: Shadow of War offers a look behind the scenes of video game voice acting work and introduces a new orc character, The Agonizer. The wannabe comedian and orc chieftain is voiced by Kumail Nanjiani.

Nubia joins Civilization VI with next DLC

Civilization VI might get a proper expansion some day, but will most likely drown us all in DLC before that happens. The newest DLC will bring Nubia into the game, with bonuses for ranged units and construction speed.

Shadow of War will be lighter on your PC than expected

Middle-Earth: Shadows of War has apparently had some optimisation work done to it, according to the updated hardware requirements for the game. It should now be a little lighter on your rig. In addition, some story bits have been revealed about a certain evil thing in spider-form.

Orcs Must Die: Unchained arrives on PlayStation 4 - Free to play

The third game in the Orcs Must Die series is now available on PlayStation 4. It's still free-to-play, same as on PC. The ARPG/tower defense hybrid will come with special benefits for PlayStation Plus subscribers who decide to start playing before 15 August 2017.

Rebellion released their Battlezone 98 Redux Odyssey Edition for Mac and iPad today. This version contains the base game and its Red Odyssey expansion. Battlezone 98 Redux Odyssey Edition is available on the App Store and through Steam.

Creative Assembly just announced a Total War Saga. This will be a spinoff series with games that focus on specific pivotal moments in history. The first game will be "another spiritual follow-up to Total War: ROME II".

Rebellion officially announced that they are working on a sequel to the RTS/management simulation known as Evil Genius. They started working on the game this Spring.

Total War: Warhammer 2 just got a new trailer detailing the game's map. The trailer takes us on a tour of the land explaining the game's premise and it's races. Total War: Warhammer 2 is available for pre-order right now.

Angry Birds Evolution

Rovio Entertainment released another game featuring a flock of riled avians. This time there's more than 100 of them and they can evolve. Angry Birds Evolution is available now for free on mobile.

TaleWorlds Entertainment shared two new gameplay videos and some details about their upcoming Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. The release date is still to be announced, but the developer is currently at E3.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War just got a story trailer

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War just got a story trailer and it's fine. Revenge, drums, a few new characters and some horrible lip-sync animation; more or less what we have come to expect recently. It looks a lot like a trailer for some Hollywood movie, but this is a story trailer, so that is ok I guess.
