Civilization VI versus Civilization V: Is Rise & Fall the game changer we need?

In terms of playtime to cost ratio, the Civilization series has to be one of the best value titles out there. Civilization V remains a more widely played game than Civilization VI. Civ VI's Rise & Fall DLC aims to change that.

Paradox have launched an update for their space strategy Stellaris free of charge. It has more or less revamped the game as we know it, but the optional Apocalypse paid DLC is the one that adds new content.

Total War: Arena's open beta now live, all progress will carry over to the released game

Creative Assembly's Total War: Arena is having an open beta. The beta test brings a new faction - Carthage. The game doesn't have a set release date. All progress from the beta will carry over into the full release.

Warhammer 40.000: Mechanicus gets a teaser trailer

Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus is in development by Bulwark Studios and they have released the first teaser trailer for the game along with bits of information about what we can expect from the game once it is released.

Starpoint Gemini Warlords gets a new DLC titled Rise of Numibia

Little Green Men Games have released a DLC pack for their space warfare game Starpoint Gemini Warlords. The DLC will put you in the shoes of the Numibian Queen in her quest to restore her tribe to former glory or pit you against her.

Total War: Rome 2 getting a Desert Kingdoms expansion and a free update in March

Creative Assembly's Total War: Rome 2 is getting a new expansion in March, along with a free update that'll add two new leaders. The Kingdoms of Kush, Saba, Nabatea, and Masaesyli will be part of the updated roster.

XCOM creator Julian Gollop shows off 17 minutes of Phoenix Point footage

Phoenix Point is the upcoming strategy game with turn based combat that is very reminiscent of XCOM, probably because Julian Gollop is the mind behind both of those games. It's back to fighting aliens, this time with a crab fetish and we have 17 minutes of new gameplay.

Review: Civilization VI Rise & Fall - some much needed improvement

We've got 700 hours on vanilla Civilization VI, despite its flaws, so we were keen to try a couple of complete single player games of Rise & Fall immediately after launch. The verdict? It's a major improvement, particularly in the later stages of play - and the new mechanics give you plenty to think about.

Battlezone: Battle Commander coming in March

Battlezone: Battle Commander is a streamlined manner of titling the upcoming Battlezone II remaster. Naming practicalities aside, Big Boat Interactive will have the classic ready for an early March release date - a modern DX coat of paint, 4K graphics, and multiplayer functionality from the olden days.

Zulu put the "waaah" in warlike for Civ VI

For the last of the "new" civs joining the Civilization VI Rise & Fall expansion, we have our traditional favourite aggressors the Zulus, led once again by that bloodthirsty old warrior Shaka. With many new civs having quite complex bonuses, it's actually nice to see a straight-up rowdy civ in the expanded roster.

Total War: Warhammer 2 just got a new campaign pack, titled Rise of the Tomb Kings. The pack brings a new campaign and race-specific gameplay mechanics to the table. Skaven Legendary Lord Tretch Craventail is also live as a free piece of DLC.

Genghis Khan - stirruping things up in Civ VI

Genghis Khan is back in the saddle as the latest of the civs announced for the Civilization VI: Rise & Fall expansion. Does the game need another horse-hungry civilization? At least there's an interesting twist on the diplomatic visibility mechanic that accurately demonstrates the fear that the Mongols instilled in their foes.
