Rock of Ages 2: Bigger & Boulder gets a release date

Rock of Ages 2: Bigger and Boulder will launch in two weeks. The sequel to Rock of Ages will come with an upgraded multiplayer feature. Xbox One players will have a 10 percent discount. PlayStation 4 and Steam users will be offered a special bundle.

Rock of Ages 2: Bigger and Boulder is coming to PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game is part tower defense, part racing and part Art History lesson by Ace Team. Bigger and Boulder is a sequel to 2011's Rock of Ages. 

The most important improvement is the emphasis on co-op and competitive play for up to four players. In addition to defending castles, the players will also need to defend their resource nodes.

As a part of the juiced up multiplayer feature, you'll be able to play with up to four players online or locally in a 2v2 match. Customisation in the form of different banners and colours for your units will also be available. 

Bigger and Boulder was developed in Unreal Engine 4 which rendered its environments destructible and its physics improved. Ace Team's quirkiness and humour remind of Monty Python. "Adam! Eve!"

Release dates are as follows:

• - Americas and Europe on 28 August
• PlayStation 4 - Americas on 28 August and Europe on 29 August
• Xbox One - Americas and Europe on 29 August

Xbox One players will enjoy a 10 percent discount during the first week. The bundle that will be available on PlayStation 4 and Steam contains:

• Rock of Ages 2  + Classic DLC Pack + Rock of Ages (£15.99) - the Classic Pack features the Smiley Boulder; Sisyphus avatar and three army banners, and the original Rock of Ages.

Two DLC packs will also be available at launch:

• Binding of Isaac Pack (Free) - This DLC contains a special Isaac boulder, three avatars (Isaac, Azazel, Blue Baby), and three Isaac-themed banners. This pack will be available for four weeks following release with all purchases of the game.
• Classic Pack (£1.99) - This DLC is free for those on Steam and PS4 who own Rock of Ages and sees the return of the Smiley boulder and Sisyphus avatar, as well as three new banners. For Steam players, a bonus soundtrack is also included.
