Phoenix Point is the upcoming blend of XCOM and Lovecraftian horror by Snapshot Games. Bits and pieces of information have been popping up about the game lately, Here is a compendium of everything we gathered about the game so far.
Julian Gollop gave us a taste of Phoenix Point gameplay in a 17 minute long demo back in February. Gollop's squad got wiped out by a huge spider queen boss at the end of the level which left many wanting to see her demise. It can be seen in the gameplay footage above.
UnstableVoltage, the Snapshot dev who is playing through the demo, gains the upper hand and eventually kills the spider boss. However, this doesn't appear to be the worst arachnid nightmare you will encounter, as the ''Hive Queen'' will keep appearing in your missions stronger each time until you destroy the monstrosity in her hive once and for all. This mechanic appears to be similar to the Chosen from XCOM 2: War of the Chosen.

Another thing that can be seen in the footage is that the game is not polished nearly enough yet. This is because there is about a of development left for the game before release. In the meantime, people will be able to get their hands on demos, such as the upcoming one at EGX Rezzed on 14 April 2018. The game will also have an phase on Steam, after a backer only beta.
Phoenix Point will also feature more tactical depth than XCOM: Enemy Within and XCOM 2, looking to go for the original XCOM's playstyle. Enemies you encounter will not have fixed archetypes. Instead, their combat abilities and appearance will be altered throughout the game, based on your tactics.

The game will feature an inventory system, higher squad size of up to 16 soldiers, and research will not be confined to the research cell in your base. You will be able to get research data from other human factions in case you chose to ally with them instead of destroying them, as well as from settlements you save.
If you're not keen on waiting for the beta access, you will have to shell out £36 or $50 for the Luxury Digital Edition which will give you access to the game's pre-alpha build.
