Relic Entertainment is moving on to bigger and better things. Dawn of War 3 has had considerable finding a stable footing in 2017, so Relic is cutting its loses and moving on to other projects.
The RTS with MOBA elements failed to resonate with the series' fans. The same fans have voiced their issues regarding Dawn of War 3's art style and its MOBA elements. While existent, Dawn of War 3's loyal player base has been deemed too small to warrant further investment. Relic and Sega chiefs have expressed their doubt that updates could turn things around.

The decision to leave Dawn of War 3 means that there are no new races or fresh expansions in the game's future. This will probably be a significant blow to the fans who got just three races when the game launched, and expected more would be added as part of Dawn of War 3's post-launch content.
Relic issued a statement saying: "While Dawn of War 3 has a dedicated player base, it didn't hit the targets we were expecting at launch, and it hasn't performed the way we had hoped since. It's been tough for us as professionals who want to make great games for our players, and for us as people who care a lot about what we do."
Their plans for the future look like this: "When a game underperforms, plans need to change. With Dawn of War 3, we simply don't have the foundation we need to produce major content. We're working in close partnership with Sega and Games Workshop to determine the best course of action, while shifting focus to other projects within our portfolio".
