Into the Breach is a turn based mechs vs monsters game developed by Subset games, the studio behind FTL: Faster Than Light. It has received its launch trailer, announcing the game will be available on 27 February 2018.

Into the Breach seems like a simple game on the surface but just like with any turn based game, looks are deceiving. At times it is as challenging as FTL but it is not as harsh. The game itself looks like a crossover episode between XCOM and Pacific Rim. In fact, the lore is almost identical to Pacific Rim's, with the exception that in Into the Breach the invading monsters had their way with Earth and have almost wiped out the human race.

Humans have a handful of survivors left, all placed across four different islands. Missions in the game will consist of you controlling three deployed mechs trying to protect human structures while the monsters will try to destroy anything in sight. The trailer shows some ways your mechs can do combos which will be essential to your success.

Whenever you hit something, it will get displaced. So if you use your artillery to hit two aliens, they will get pushed back and if they collide with a building or one of your mechs, everything in the crash will take damage.

You can use those knockbacks to line up the enemies for a perfect laser shot by your friendly mech or collide them with your bipedal unit that's built to withstand damage. Who would have though an eight by eight grid could host such a complex combat system?

Considering the game is set in a post apocalyptic world and the story is written by , strong narrative is to be expected.

As you can imagine, these graphics don't look too hard to process so the are basically a mashed potato and an input method. Try sticking a carrot into the potato.

Into the Breach will be available for PC, with support for Macintosh and Linux operating systems.
