Yakuza: Like a Dragon is officially launching on November 10, 2020, for Xbox Series X / Series S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The PlayStation 5 version of the game will arrive in March 2021.
Today, Sega have announced that their much-anticipated RPG Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be launching on Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows 10 and Steam on November 10, 2020, aligning the release dates for all current-generation releases with the Xbox Series X | S launch date.
As for the PlayStation 5 version, Sega confirmed the port will be coming a bit later - March 2, 2021. And while this will certainly come as a disappointment to future PlayStation 5 owners, the game will support free upgrade so if you purchase the digital PS4 version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon at PlayStation Store, they are able to download the PS5 version at no extra cost when it launches.
Xbox One owners who plan to purchase Yakuza: Like a Dragon and later upgrade to Xbox Series X will also get a free next-gen version of the game thanks to the Smart Delivery program.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon already released in Japan earlier this year. The Western release will feature English voiceovers from a dynamic cast of actors, including George Takei, Kaiji Tang, Andrew Morgado, Greg Chun and Elizabeth Maxwell.
In case you are not familiar with the eighth instalment in the Yakuza franchise, this will be the first title to feature turn-based RPG combat. You play as Ichiban Kasuga, who is just released from prison for a murder he did not commit. Shortly after his release, Kasuga realises that his family abandoned him. He is keen to find out why they betrayed him and make a name for himself in the criminal underworld.
