Ubisoft's XDefiant has been a highly anticipated FPS title for the past few years. Developed by Ubisoft San Francisco, the free-to-play title has finally launched worldwide after a series of internal issues.
Unfortunately, the FPS title's launch has not been smooth sailing, as players have started to report server issues preventing them from playing the game. While previous playtests and beta phases of the game faced a handful of issues, the servers were mostly functional.
However, it seems like Ubisoft was not prepared for so many players to hop on to the game on day one, which has led to players being unable to find matches.
XDefiant gets hit with server issues after worldwide launch
Ubisoft has put XDefiant through countless testing phases before its worldwide launch, which included server stability tests, It is unusual for Ubisoft to not expect so many players to flood their way into the game on day one.
The developers have addressed the server issue on their official Twitter account, stating, "We're aware that some players are unable to join a game; please bear with us while we look into servers and matchmaking!"
Labelled as a Call of Duty competitor, the server issues will hugely impact the game's success in the long run. Moreover, due to the game's delayed launch after countless internal issues at Ubisoft San Francisco, the game's initial hype has subsided by a large margin.
Set in a mashup of Ubisoft IPs, XDefiant has huge potential to become one of the best free-to-play shooters in the FPS industry. The game manages to deliver a fantastic arcade shooter experience, like past Call of Duty titles.
Hopefully, Ubisoft gets on to making drastic changes to the game with future updates to keep the game fresh for countless FPS lovers out there.
