XDefiant's launch has not been smooth sailing following the game being hit by server and netcode issues. However, Ubisoft and Mark Rubin have already addressed these issues and their plans to fix them soon with a future update.
While the players were assured of the upcoming fixes, another issue has made its way into the limelight. Players have been complaining about the game's unbalanced bunny-hopping mechanic. The issue was then addressed by Ubisoft's developer, Patrick Price, who assured players that they were working on creating a penalty for spamming the bunny-hopping mechanic.
XDefiant's rampant bunny-hopping plague might stop in the near future
XDefiant's developer is Patrick Price, aka Aches, who is a renowned former CoD pro shared a confirmation regarding the new anti-spam coming to the game soon with a future update.
As the fix gets implemented, players who carry out excessive jumps or crouches in a row will get hit with an aim-sway penalty, making aiming significantly more challenging.
This mechanic was previously seen in some of XDefiant's early test builds, where the aim-sway penalty lasted a maximum of 1.5 seconds unless the player continued to jump or crouch spam, which extended its duration.
While Aches talks about the anti-spam mechanic as a nerf for the excessive use of bunny hopping and jumpshotting, he also emphasized on their plans to not take these movement mechanics out of the game. Ubisoft has previously talked about XDefiant being a skill-intensive game; however, they have the intention to make the game inclusive for all skill groups.
The implementation of this movement mechanic will surely decrease the use of excessive bunny hopping during gunfights. However, bunny hopping and jump shotting will still remain in the game as important skills to master to outclass or outplay other players in the higher-skilled lobbies.
