Rogue Traders are quite unique in Warhammer 40,000 universe and being in the boots of one is a special occasion, as outlined by the latest trailer for the game.
Owlcat Games posted a video that is labelled Dev Diary for some reason but it really is a well-produced trailer for a game that is still in development and possibly more than a year away from release.
In any case, W40K: Rogue Trader has a new video that tells us more about the titular group of individuals that differ from pretty much everything in the universe and enjoy a unique position in the Imperium of Man.
While the vast majority of citizens of the Imperium are subjected to rigorous restrictions, mandatory taxes and incredibly slow bureaucracy, Rogue Traders get to skip most of those hoops just like that.
Their role in the Imperium is also somewhat unique - they are both traders and explorers, often venturing into places not visited by other subjects of the Emperor and they mostly do it any way they prefer.
Those few exceptions when their freedoms are limited often involve the Inquisition, with a good example being the Inquisitor - Martyr game where you are in the role of an Inquisitor that commandeered a rogue trader vessel.
In Rogue Trader, we will get to see what it is like to be one such individual and considering the fact we get to have a Space Wolf, Sister of Battle, Aeldari Ranger and psykers in our retinue, it would be safe to assume our character is also given the vast freedoms the rogue traders are due.
